Short-Term Analysis (through Friday 23 October)

A continued downward slide in trailing SSE swell culminates in tiny surf by Wednesday morning, as residual SE swell combines with a small, directional component of south swell. The latter swell-train should gradually bump up as the day progresses, favouring south facing breaks for potential sets nudging the 2ft+ range as NE winds steadily fresh to 15 to 25 knots during the afternoon.

Minor SSE and NE windswell in the mix on Thursday and early Friday: A slight increase in short-range NE windswell later in the week doesn’t hold a great deal of new surf-potential; bumping up ever so slightly in response to a moderate, 15-20kt NNE flow setting up off the NSW coast. That occurs in response to a weak high pressure system hovering over the southeast Tasman Sea, extending ridge to the NSW coast.

This relatively slack pressure gradient only contributing to couple of sporadic bursts of moderate to fresh north to NE winds offshore – in turn supplying us with small, short-period NE windswell at marginal 1 to 2ft levels during Thursday through early Friday.

Long Term Analysis (Saturday 24 and beyond)
