Short-Term Analysis (through Wednesday 20 January)

Tuesday: Rapid increase in short-mid period S swell sets in from Newcastle south, undersized early and ramping up to double-overhead levels in the afternoon, bigger later. Conditions heavily compromised by strengthening south to SSE winds in the morning, limiting options to north-facing breaks holding the swell.

Wednesday: Limited surfing options for Sydney, Newcastle and the South Coast as a large to heavy south groundswell peaks early and eases marginally later. Building steeply across mid-northern NSW coasts during the afternoon. Hampered by moderate SSE winds, tending light/moderate SE/ESE during the arvo.

Long Term Analysis (Thursday 21 January and beyond)
