Short-Term Analysis (to Sat 28 Nov)

Thursday saw a new long period SW groundswell fill in abruptly through the afternoon under SSE winds. The deepwater energy will peak tonight and continue strong while easing slowly through Friday. SW swell settles out and this lines up improving to good conditions going into Friday.

A shift of lighter NE wind is due to fill in under a renewed high pressure Friday morning, which, with a little time, will clean up the southerly swell mix for the South Coast and can refract some decent sets to open MidCoast focal spots. S windwaves die off rapidly through the morning under calm to light N wind and the deepwater SW sets should hold strong size Friday before gradually taper off through the weekend. Midcoast should see some refracted SW sets but expect better waves to be inconsistent as winds tend offshore and swell direction migrates south. We could see some solid overhead waves start to line up through Friday afternoon on South Coast, tending to improve as the waves organise and sort out swell periods. By afternoon a mild seabreeze may form, then ease off again in the evening.

Clean morning conditions again greet Saturday morning with the high pressure system in the bight. The SW swell looks to be organised and clean at this point and offer a good day on South Coast breaks, although tending smaller and weak on MidCoast as swell drops out there. Sunday a new shift of onshore SW winds and a incoming SW swell will cross in and create poor conditions. This offers poor short range south swell into the start of upcoming week, but with a short to midperiod wave energy leading to crossed up and average form.
