    Summary
Conditions are about to switch on across the Surf Coast as several days of westerly quarter wind coincide with a sustained run of sizeable SW groundswell. It’s onset follows the rapid development of a mid-latitude low below the mainland this week; initially forming south of Western Australia last Saturday before intensifying as it moved below the Bight on Sunday and Monday.

As the low moved below Victoria on Monday night and Tuesday morning an associated cold-front swept across Bass Strait, leading in onshore SW winds and rising SW groundswell that’s on track to peak state-wide on Wednesday. This looks like culminating in solid 4 to 6ft+ conditions under offshore WNW winds across the Torquay reefs on Wednesday morning, with plenty more in the way of good to great conditions in store as the swell backs off on Thursday.
