There were beautiful barrels at Burleigh on the weekend for the final event of the Queensland Championship Circuit and a whole lot of free surfing. Check out what went down in the sunshine state.

Thomas Woods of Burleigh Waters emerged as the accumulated point score winner of the QCC Series over a stellar field. Woods will walk away with a money can’t buy position into the 2017 WSL Quiksilver Pro trials spot at Snapper Rocks early next year.
The icing on the cake for Woods powerful display of innovative manoeuvres granted him a two wave combined heat total 17.17 points leaving his rivals chasing a combination of scores to take the lead in the final. This proved too great a task for Tim MacDonald, Sheldon Simkus and Maddy Job to overcome respectively.
“I am pumped that it all came together like that in the end which is all time,” said Woods. “I haven’t surfed in the Quiksliver Pro trials since I was 18 so it is great to go back and have another shot at it. This is the first time I have won the QCC Series and I am stoked that this year has played out like it has,” continued Woods.
