Heavy peak in SSW groundswell. Ranging anywhere from 8 – 12ft exposed beaches during the morning. Grading to 6 – 10ft across the Surf Coast, easing during the afternoon. A long-period SSW groundswell peaks at heavy levels statewide early on Saturday morning before easing marginally throughout the afternoon. This pulses maintains still large, easing surf on Sunday ahead of a second, large SSW swell peaking on Monday. Predominant W to NW winds prevail throughout.
14-year-old local chargers, Bella Wilson and Angela Ball paddled out with the guidance of legends catching waves for four hours. QS surfer, coach and co-host of Lipped Surfers' Podcast Cahill Bell-Warren commented "It was the biggest day in years, genuinely next level. I have nothing but respect for Bella and Angela.” See Bella take a sizeable wave in the video below by @kingklips.
It was decided on Thursday that the inaugural Bells Beach 50 Year Storm event in Memory of Shaun Brooks would be taken off orange alert due to the borderline forecast conditions and the potential for a downgrade. Follow the 50 Year Storm event on Coastalwatch and support One In Five and Headspace.
