Swell Alert: Victoria is on the cusp of a heavy spike in WSW groundswell
Issued Monday, 25 March 2019
Victoria (and to a lesser extent South Australia) is now on the cusp of a big, cold wintery blast of WSW swell and wind from the same direction. The synoptic culprit is a mid-latitude low that rapidly intensified as it tracked eastward, below South Australia and into Victorian longitudes over the last 48 hours. The 966 hPa system is now bringing a combined, gale force WSW/SW fetch area within close-range of western Bass Strait; and a steep building trend in groundswell from the same direction will be sure to follow.
