The Last Man in the Mentawai Islands Scores More Insane Covid Barrels

You might recall the story of Costa Rica's Anthony Fillingim, a man left to surf the perfect waves of the Mentawai Islands while the world's tourism (and surf tourism) industries came to a grinding halt due to COVID-19. He's set up camp at the Kandui resort, and has been experiencing surfing's version of a kid being locked in a toy store overnight. This clip comes from Bank Vault a couple months back. Kandui Resort's Justis St John reports:

“Once the border shut down in late March, April turned on and Anthony got a pretty sick day at nearby Bank Vault. The edit was filmed primarily in one day, but also got a second session that was pretty insane. Been so nuts to see someone of his ability surf these waves empty; it will never happen again.”
