In one of the most exciting events seen this year on the Surfing Victoria Events Calender, Phillip Island Boardriders Club won the Victorian Teams Titles held in clean 3-4ft waves at Woolamai Beach.

Torquay Boardriders staged a last heat comeback to almost force a man on man surf off but the Island team, led by young guns Mitch Baker and Jackson Collins, charged at the critical stage to go into second position in the heat to gather the points and ensure victory again in 2007.

The stand out performance of the day was former WCT surfer Glyndon Ringrose, who smashed his home break to combo his opponents in the Over 35 division. Todd Rosewall also proved why he is the Victorian Under 18 champion when he totally demolished the Woolamai right handers in a very polished display. Pt Lonsdale’s Mark Phipps also surfed well as did Simon Collier (13th) and Darren Watson (Peninsula). Simon McShane from the Island Team thrilled the crowd with an incredible tube ride during his heat.

A very large and vocal crowd made their way to the event to cheer on the respective teams, enjoy the barbies on the beach and witness some fantastic home grown surfing.

The rivalry between all of the teams is healthy and continues to force surfing in Victoria to levels of excellence not seen before in this State.
All Teams should be congratulated for providing an entertaining day of raw competitive surfing.
