Hooter Within Weeks Of Sounding For JR Open ’09 presented by Goldstein’s

Gold Coast, Australia (Wednesday 31st April, 2009): IT’s time to kick back, get comfy and enjoy some of the hottest domestic surfing action this side of the border, with the hooter only weeks away from sounding on the annual JR Open ’09 presented by Goldstein’s.

Kicking off at Burleigh Point, a limited round of 64 open aged surfers will go toe-to-toe for their share of $2000 prize money and loads of giveaways.

This year JR Surfboards has accepted an invitation from Surfing Queensland to join the 2009 Queensland Championship Circuit (QCC) – and become stop three of a four round, $16,000 series that continues to set the benchmark for surfers aspiring to surfing’s big leagues.

The JR Open event, known for its generous prize pools and giveaways, has seen entries flood into the Surfing Queensland Office in the lead up to kick off on Saturday 18th April, with valuable QCC rating points up for grabs.

Along with the open men’s, is the round of 24 “Shaper’s Australia Junior Division”. $300 is on the line, plus huge prize packs for the highest rated groms.

Surfers’ manoeuvres will also be going under the microscope in the prestigious, two-day event, with $750 cash up for grabs in the Bondage Wax ‘Session of Expression’.

With less than three weeks to go to the first heat, Surfing Queensland is still encouraging surfers to get their entries in and enjoy this popular event. Anyone can enter the JR Open ‘09 online by following the link from www.surfingqueensland.com

Adding to the tournament’s already high stakes will be the Goldstein’s ‘Big cream pie throw”, where JR himself will be the target, and is putting up a brand new custom made board for the successful thrower.

The JR Open’s notorious after party at the Swell Tavern Burleigh Heads will kick off around 4.30 pm Sunday afternoon, where the winners of all JR Open divisions will be crowned.

Competition will kick off from 8am on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th April, 2009.

The JR Open presented by Goldstein’s is proudly supported by Australia’s Surfing Life Magazine, Shaper’s Australia, Bondage surf wax, Swell Tavern, Surfing Queensland and DR Moose.

Please email toni@jrsurfboards.com.au to attend the Sunday swell session (JR Open ’09 after party)… RSVP’s a must!
