SYDNEY (Tuesday, 8 April 2013): A handful of former World Championship Tour surfers are set to return to competition in this upcoming weekend’s HIF NSW Open State Titles at Soldiers Beach.

Already entered are former World Championship Tour surfers Richie Lovett (Manly), Dayyan Neve (Manly) and current World Qualifying Series surfers Nic Squiers (Thirroul) and Connor O’Leary (Cronulla).

The HIF NSW Cadet Cup will also run concurrently with the Open State Titles and is open to all surfers in the under-16 and under-14 divisions.

“We expect the caliber of surfing this weekend to be extremely high,” said Surfing NSW Head Judge, Central Coast local and former World Championship Tour surfer Drew Courtney. “Some of the guys who have entered the event have had long and celebrated careers at the top level of professional surfing and I expect that they’ll be excited to re-stoke their competitive flame this weekend.”

Results of the HIF NSW Open State Titles will determine the Open Male and Open Female NSW team for the 2014 Australian Surf Festival in August at Coffs Harbour.

The HIF NSW Open State Titles and Cadet Cup will see a straight knock out format with 50 percent progression across all event divisions. Each division will consist of following round amounts:

- Open Men - Round of 64

- Open Female - Round of 32

- U16 Boys - Round of 32

- U16 Girls - Round of 16

- U14 Boys - Round of 32

- U14 Girls - Round of 12

The HIF NSW Open State Titles and Cadet Cup are proudly sponsored by Wyong Shire Council and Greater Toukley Vision, both of who are excited to see an elite state-level surfing event return to the idyllic region.

The main base for the HIF NSW Open State Titles and Cadet Cup will be Soldiers Beach, however the event also has the capability to run at Shelly Beach, North Shelly Beach and North Entrance.

Coastalwatch Plus will be the official forecast partner for the event, ensuring all competitors get the best waves possible..
