SWELL ALERT – Southern Australia

7 Dec 2011 0 Share

A system currently developing out in the Southern Ocean southwest of Western Australia looks set to deliver a large, long-period south-southwest right across Southern Australia next week.

According to chief swell forecaster, Ben Macartney, there’s currrently strong agreement between key computer models showing that the storm should develop favourably. However the next few days, particularly Friday and Saturday, will tell whether we’ll see huge, or merely very large, waves.

At this stage it’s looking like the swell should peak early early Tuesday in Western Australia and move eastward through South Australia and Victoria over the next few days.

If it all comes together, there should be big, clean surf across the Margaret river region with moderate to strong SE winds in West OZ.
