The Event Window For Red Bull Queen of the (Waimea) Bay Has Started
COASTALWATCH | BEST OF THE WEB
The world’s first-ever female-only big-wave event is returning to Waimea Bay again this year. With a waiting period from October 1-November 21, the Red Bull Queen of the Bay assembles a who's who of women's big wave surfing, including Australia's Laura Enever and Felicity Palmateer. Non Aussies to look out for are of course the giants of women's big wave surfing in Paige Alms, Keala Kennelly, and Justine Dupont, amongst many others.
The Women’s Waimea Bay Championship was first founded in 2010 and partnered with Red Bull in 2017. The event was postponed in 2017 and 2018 due to a lack of appropriate swell in the Bay.
Here's hoping 2019/2020 will be a different story!
